ALDI MOBILE REVIEW

A factual account with evidence of the personal bad experience with ALDI Mobile business that does not align with its awards & reviews, is being prepared.
BRIEFLY
• It came evident that ALDI Mobile was unable to provide the services that it represented to be available, for which full payments had been made.
• ALDI Mobile required further payments during the activation of the services, that were not made known to the customers prior to initially paying for the services.
• ALDI Mobile was incapable of providing timely SMS security authorisations in order to activate the services.
• Subsequent to cancelling the services by reason of the above, ALDI Mobile made no attempt to refund the monies paid or offer a facility for the refunds to be made.
• Upon requesting refunds to ALDI Mobile by emails, ALDI Mobile ignored those emails.
• In the above circumstances a formal complaint was made to ALDI Mobile who then decided to refund the monies paid, which took several days to appear in the bank account of the customers.

Upon researching material for this website, it was revealed that there are literally many hundreds of consumers, that have also had serious complaints regarding ALDI Mobile. If the ALDI Mobile directors (i.e. directors of the MEDION Australia Pty Limited company running ALDI Mobile), were diligent in their duties as directors, they surely would be aware of these complaints.

HUNDREDS OF OTHER ALDI MOBILE COMPLAINTS

The reviews (mostly complaints) below by Product Review & TrustPilot, made by REAL People & REAL Customers, do not seem to match the ALDI Mobile Awards.

Furthermore ALDI Mobile publishes 12 anonymous reviews as "Real Customer Stories" along with these Awards, all of which glowingly praise the attributes of ALDI Mobile, while not explaining how these reviews were obtained from the customers.

Interestingly, unlike the reviews of Product Review & TrustPilot below, there are ZERO negative reviews, which the directors must have been aware of, if as said before, they were diligently doing their duties as directors, while publishing the "Real Customer Stories".

The ACCC on product reviews says, "omitting negative reviews can be as misleading as posting fake reviews" and provides a case study of the Bloomex Florist, as is referred to below.

Both Product Review and TrustPilot provide facilities to respond to customer reviews. The various plans available don't appear to be cheap, but with a yearly revenue in 2025 of $395,458,000, it probably could be afforded within the ALDI Mobile budget.

While Product Review notifies companies when a new submission is made on a listing, ALDI Mobile appears to have no interest in brand management, or taking up the opportunity to respond to any of its customer complaints made online at review sites.

ACCC on Fines & Penalties

ALDI Foods Pty Ltd owns the ALDI Mobile trademark and MEDION Australia Pty Limited (MEDION) discloses that it operates the ALDI Mobile business at the bottom of its website. It is noted that registration of the ALDI Mobile business, cannot be found on the public record, or the ABN record, and the business name 'ALDI Mobile' is available for registration.

Subsection 18(1) of the Business Registration Act, states that carrying on a business under an unregistered business name is an offence, and subsection (3)(1) makes it an offence of strict liability.
Does this mean that MEDION (without explanation) is trading illegally? LETS ASK AI.

MEDION details are available at Wikipedia and according to IBIS World"Medion Australia is a Proprietary Company that generates the majority of its income from the Telecommunications Services industry. In 2025 the company generated total revenue of $395,458,000 including sales and other revenue".

However, it appears that MEDION may not be the corporate angel that it tries to establish at its Awards publication. On reading this ABC report, Medion Australia was hit with $260,000 fine after SIM-swapping scam leads some telco customers to lose thousands. This followed a previous court enforceable undertaking in 2014 and more information on that by the ACCC, is HERE.

Currently MEDION publishes the said 12 anonymous reviews, no doubt in an attempt to launder the ALDI Mobile image in the circumstances of many hundreds of negative reviews. In publishing selective positive reviews, and failing to include any negative reviews that it must have known about, could be seen to be in contravention of what the ACCC says about omitting negative reviews, thus creating a potential for misleading circumstances.

And why would MEDION care about that?... when it does't even bother to register the ALDI Mobile business name, as required by law.

ALDI Foods Pty Ltd has been requested for comment...

The ACCC media release of 24 March 2026, evidences the most recent crackdown on misleading reviews.

The question arises... IF there is any contravention of Australian Consumer Law (ACL) regarding the ALDI Mobile Awards with "Real Customer Stories", who would be held responsible?
